Mix ‘n’ Mingle Features Smiles, Talk, and Laughter

Debin Bruce | Published on 9/1/2022

Old friends, new acquaintances, fine weather, pleasant outdoor venue, refreshments—mix these ingredients, and you have a Northampton Neighbors’ “Mix ‘n’ Mingle.” These get-togethers have no agenda, so people can enjoy the company of old friends and meet new ones.

The outdoor tents and picnic tables at Spoleto offered the perfect setting to come and go and visit around to different conversation groups. Thanks to Claudio Guerra, owner of Spoleto, for letting NN use the patio.

Gene Callahan estimated that about 40 people attended the June event. He said it was a very friendly group and he met a lot of nice people. Jan Whitaker said it was a lively group of interesting people who were outgoing and good listeners too. She recommended the Mix ‘n’ Mingles to several friends who sounded as though they were sorry they missed this one.

According to Joyce Bol, Northampton Neighbors has been a real treat for a newcomer to Northampton. She moved here from Buffalo, NY, during COVID and joined NN immediately. The Spoleto event was her first Mix ‘n’ Mingle. She visited with friends from her NN Walking Group and met new people discussing lives, politics, and a range of other topics. “ The conversations flowed in all directions,” she said

Bob Marstall characterized the Mix ‘n’ Mingle as “a relaxed atmosphere with a friendly vibe.” One neighbor summed up the feelings of many, saying, “Everyone was just so happy to be out.”

Be sure to visit the NN Calendar for details on the next Mix ‘n’ Mingle, which typically takes place the second Tuesday of the month.
