Friday, October 22, 2021
3-4 PM on ZOOM
The Open Enrollment period of Medicare is upon us. Many of us have so many questions and concerns about our complex medical insurance system. Do I have enough coverage? Should I add dental? So many corporations are marketing supplements to Medicare that I’m wondering who should I listen to? For twenty-three years our guest speaker, Lorraine York-Edberg, has held the leadership role as Regional Director of the SHINE program, which stands for Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone. In her capacity as Director of SHINE she has become one of the most knowledgeable people on all aspects of Medicare in the State of Massachusetts.
Lorraine will review the ins and outs of Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D Basics, Medicare Advantage Plan and Medigap options. In addition, she will review Public Benefit Programs and updates regarding the Medicare Savings Program which is also known as the Buy-In Program.
Lorraine has been a certified SHINE Counselor since 1997 and provides training and ongoing supervision to over 40 regional counselors in the program. She has extensive experience working with Medicare Beneficiaries, Health Insurance Companies, Public Benefit Programs and Prescription Drug Options. Lorraine writes for several area newspapers and can often be found making presentations to Medicare Beneficiaries in Western Massachusetts. She has degrees in Human Services and Early Childhood Education.
