Jonathan Daube
Born and educated in the U.K., Jonathan has been married to the same person since 1964. The Daubes moved to Florence to be near children and grandchildren. From 1978 until he retired in 2008, Jonathan was a community college president in MA and in CT. His first degree is from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, his doctorate is from Harvard, and he holds two honorary degrees. He taught for two years at the University of Malawi and was a MA school superintendent for five. He has taught at UMass and, more recently, served on Northampton’s superintendent search committee. He plays petanque at Maines Field cheerfully but indifferently and unpredictably.
