About this event
Monday, November 4, we will walk at the Park Hill Orchard in Easthampton, meeting at 10 a.m. (details below). While some of you may have visited their Art in the Orchard or sculpture exhibits, they also have a trail that goes around their orchards that offers a nice walk on an autumn day. Their farmstand has many different varieties of apples, apple cider, fresh vegetables, and baked goods for sale. They take credit cards and are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Thanksgiving.
A few comments:
--Each person walks at her/his own pace and walks only as far as they wish. There is no obligation to complete the walk or walk a certain distance. All are welcome. You do not have to be a resident of Northampton to walk with us.
--There are restroom facilities at the Park Hill Orchard to the left of the farmstand.
--Later in November, we will shift to starting the walk at 1 p.m.
--If you no longer want to receive these walk notices, please email me and I will remove your name from the listserv.

As you approach the Park Hill Orchards on Park Hill Road South, the farmstand is on the right and the parking lot is on the left.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Driving from downtown Northampton, take Rocky Hill Road (Route 66) and turn left onto Florence Road and in 100 feet, make a right hand turn onto Park Hill Road. Proceed 1.3 miles and turn left onto Park Hill Road South. In about ½ mile you will see the Park Hill Orchard farmstand on the right and on the left is the parking area where we will meet.
If you are coming on Florence Road, please proceed through the traffic light (Rocky Hill Road on the left and Westhampton Road on the right) and make an immediate right hand turn onto Park Hill Road and follow the instructions above.
DESCRIPTION OF WALK: We will be walking on a few different types of roads at the Park Hill Orchards, including gravel, grass, and meadows that have been mowed by tractors. These roads run along the perimeter of the orchards to allow for maintaining the apple trees during the early part of the growing season and picking the apples and other fruit when ripe. Some of the surfaces may be uneven. We will walk along the perimeter of the orchards. The length of the walk should be about two miles, or a little more. Members of the Monday Walking Group can also walk to the various art exhibits at the Park Hill Orchards, lengthening the walk.
