Calendar - Event View

MEETING TIME AND PLACE: 10:00 a.m, Monday, October 16, 2023. We will meet at the parking area alongside Railroad Street in Hadley. Railroad Street is only a few blocks long and runs alongside the Norwottuck Bike Path. After turning onto Railroad Street from Middle Street, in a short distance, you will see a red Porta Potty on the right. The parking spaces are on the far side of the red Porta Potty. Please use 3 Railroad Street, Hadley, Mass. 01035 as a GPS address to assist you in finding Railroad Street, although the parking is a few hundred feet down the street.(Three Railroad Street is the address of Amherst Copy and Design Works.) From here, we will walk on West Street to the Hadley Dike.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From the Coolidge Bridge, proceed toward Hadley about 1 ¼ mile and at the second traffic light make a left hand turn onto Route 47/ Middle Street. After turning onto Route 47, in a few hundred feet, make a left hand turn onto Railroad Street, which is adjacent to the bike path. The parking area is several hundred feet farther after turning left.

DESCRIPTION OF WALK: From the parking area, we will walk on West Street to the Hadley Dike, where we will walk east towards Northampton. Then we will walk on the dike south to Cross Path Road to the bike path, which we will take to return to our cars. The walk to the Hadley Dike and return to the parking area is approximately 3 miles.

Please walk at your own pace. You are not obligated to complete the walk and can return to your car at any time. Please wear appropriate walking shoes or hiking boots, bring a rain jacket, and hiking staffs, if you use them, and water and snacks.
