Northampton Neighbors Speaker Series Presents<br />Forbes Library:<br />Yesterday, today and tomorrow<br /><br />Lisa Downing<br />Friday, November&#160; 5, 2021<br />3-4 PM on ZOOM<br />&#160;<br />Forbes Library has served as our community’s public library for 125 years. The library was founded&#160;through a generous bequest to support the intellectual pursuits of the community. This mission has remained steadfast although the library’s role has expanded over the years.&#160;Join library director, Lisa Downing for a brief illustrated history of the library followed by a presentation about the library’s current services and its hopes for the future. She will also discuss the impacts of the pandemic on the library and how it has sought to evolve to meet changing community needs. Dylan Gaffney will join Lisa Downing to talk and answer questions about Forbes.<br /><br />Lisa Downing is the library’s 10th director and has served since 2016. She has a Masters of Information Science from the State University of New York at Albany. She serves on the boards of the Western Massachusetts Library Advocates and the Northampton Survival Center and co-leads a Girl Scout troop in her hometown of Easthampton.
