NORTHAMPTON NEIGHBORS WALK, MONDAY, DECEMBER 26 AT 1 P.M., NORTHAMPTON BIKE PATH, MAIN STREET, LEEDS

MEETING TIME AND PLACE: 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2022, Main Street Leeds, Mass. We will meet on Main Street near the old Hotel Bridge, which is on the Mill River. Please use 175 Main Street Leeds for a GPS address which is for Marney Electric Company, whose office is across Main Street from the Hotel Bridge. Please park along Main Street, near Marney Electric. Once we have gathered, we will walk up Main Street to Florence Street and then walk to the Rail Trail about a ¼ mile trip. There are no restrooms available near the bike path, however, restrooms are available at Look Park about ¾ mile away

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From the Bridge Road roundabout in Florence, proceed west on Route 9, past the Veteran Administration Hospital and in ¼ mile make a left hand turn onto Florence Street (a good landmark is the Sunoco Gas station on the left). After passing the Leeds Elementary School on the right, go down the hill about another ¼ mile passing the Bike Path on the way. At the base of the hill, make a left hand turn onto Main Street, where you can park near the Hotel Bridge which is on the right about ¼ mile up Main Street. Marney Electric (175 Main Street) is on the left.

DESCRIPTION OF WALK: The walk is to the west where the Bike Path has been extended towards Haydenville. The walk is approximately one mile each way, for a total of two miles. We will then retrace our route back past Florence Street and, for those who wish to walk farther, can take the Bike Path towards Look Park. Please be aware that we will be sharing the walk with bikes, some of whom may be driving fast. Please bring water, snacks, and a rain jacket. As mentioned above, there are no restroom facilities on our route, but are available at Look Park, less than one mile away.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: The Bike Path is paved with asphalt, has no obstacles, is flat and the few grades are very moderate.

COORDINATOR: David Herships (H) (413) 7
