MEETING TIME AND PLACE: 1:00 p.m., December 5, 2022, We will meet on Moody Bridge Road, just in from the intersection with South Maple Street in Hadley, Mass. From our meeting place on Moody Bridge Road, where we will park our cars, we will walk to the Fort River Refuge, a distance of about &#189; mile. Please use 193 Moody Bridge Road, Hadley, Mass. 01035, as a GPS address. This is the address of a house at the corner of Moody Bridge Road and South Maple Street, not far from where we will meet. <br />DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Cross the Connecticut River on Rt. 9 and take the first right hand turn onto Rt. 47 South at the V intersection a short distance from the bridge. Proceed approximately 2.8 miles on Rt. 47 South and make a left hand turn onto Bay Road (signs will say Atkins Farms, Hampshire College and Eric Carle Museum). After turning onto Bay Road, proceed approximately &#190; of a mile and make a left onto East Hadley Road (a landmark just before the left turn is a sign for the Hartsbrook Waldorf School on the right). Continue to the end of East Hadley Road (a distance of about &#189; mile) and at the T intersection, make a left turn onto South Maple Street. Continue straight ahead for &#190; of a mile on South Maple and at the stop sign, make a left hand turn onto Moody Bridge Road (signs will say road closed) and look for cars parked alongside the road. The house at 193 Moody Bridge Road, Hadley, is on the corner where you make a left onto Moody Bridge Road.<br />DESCRIPTION OF WALK: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has constructed a 1.1 mile long accessible loop trail at what was formerly a horse riding stable. The trail, parts of which are a raised boardwalk, winds alongside the Fort River, which is a tributary of the Connecticut River. The trail has several overlooks of the river with benches. The trail is flat and provides easy walking. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has provided Porta-Potties in the parking lot. A link to a map of the Ft. River Refu
