Workplace Benefits for Caregivers and Beyond
This month’s “news you can use” has an intergenerational focus that will introduce some often-overlooked resources. Nina Dickerman, manager of work/life and recognition at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and MSW Intern with the Alzheimer’s Association, will provide overviews of workplace benefits that apply to people with younger onset dementias as well as to caregivers for people with dementia diseases. Benefits include the Family and Medical Leave Act, short- and long-term disability, accommodations, and more. Although Nina will use the dementia lens, many of the benefits have wider applicability, especially since many older people are still working.
From the Boston area, Nina Dickerman’s 30-plus-year career is deeply rooted in nurturing relationships, triaging dependent-care challenges, curating resources, supporting employees as they navigate leave-of-absence transitions, and implementing new programs to make a difference for individuals when integrating home and work.
